FSI SIMULATION WITH ABAQUS AND THIRD-PARTY CFD CODES
PROVIDES BROAD SCOPE OF PROBLEMS IN WHICH FLUID FLOW AND STRUCTURAL DEFORMATION INTERACT AND AFFECT ONE ANOTHER
Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) covers a broad scope of problems in which fluid flow and structural deformation interact and affect one another. The interaction may be thermal, mechanical, or both and can be steady or transient. Many important problems involve some form of FSI, but the coupling effect is often ignored due to the lack of readily available solution technology.
The Abaqus co-simulation capability can be accessed using the SIMULIA Co-simulation Engine (CSE) or MpCCI (Mesh-based parallel Code Coupling Interface) from Fraunhofer SCAI.
This seminar provides an introduction to the FSI capability using 3rd-party CFD codes, with an emphasis on enabling users to get started utilizing the capability effectively. Several examples using both Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit are used throughout the seminar to illustrate the types of problems that can be solved.
